MICAH, Milwaukee Inner-City Congregations Allied for Hope, was founded in 1988 when seven Milwaukee religious leaders and their congregations united to form an interracial, interfaith social justice organization. Since then MICAH has worked aggressively to address justice issues affecting Milwaukee residents, providing improvements, and empowering people to create a community that reflects values of faith, justice, and equality.
MICAH’s work continues with a membership of 40 institutions, including St. Sebastian Parish and other Christian, Jewish and Muslim congregations. Its work involves jobs, economic development, fair housing, transit, criminal justice reform, refugee and immigration issues – and more. Click here to read a summary of some important milestones and successes.
Please join diverse brothers and sisters of faith to celebrate 30 years of doing what is just. Ticket price for event is $30. (Fully tax deductible.) St. Sebastian Human Concerns will cover half the ticket price for interested parishioners. For tickets, contact parishioner Judy Kampe at 414-778-1080 or firstname.lastname@example.org before May 18.
MICAH is excited to invite various Milwaukee food trucks to line up on 54th Street so guests to choose and purchase their own food. The trucks will donate 15% of sales to MICAH. After dinner, MICAH will provide desserts, coffee, water and a 90-minute program of awards and entertainment – including gospel and soul music, along with spoken word tributes.
We’re seeking volunteers to help our parish host this event. Please contact Rhonda VanPembrook at 640-3805 or email@example.com to offer your help.
