Purpose: To protect indoor air quality and to protect the health, safety and comfort of employees, students and visitors of Saint Sebastian Parish.
Policy: Smoking and vaping are not allowed at any time in any parish buildings, within 100 feet of the school building, on the school playground (beyond 100 feet) or within 15 feet of any entry door, including but not limited to common areas, classrooms, church hall, conference and meeting rooms, private offices, elevators, hallways, cafeteria, employee lounges, stairs, restrooms, employer-owned vehicles, and any other enclosed facilities. This policy refers to the use of any tobacco products or any electronic nicotine delivery systems. The policy is effective as of August 1, 2018.
Definition: “Smoking” generally means inhaling, exhaling, burning or carrying any lighted cigar, cigarette or pipe. “Vaping” refers to the use of electronic nicotine delivery systems or electronic smoking devices that heat e-liquid to produce vapor, regardless of whether it is e-cigarettes, e-cigars, e-hookahs, e-pipes, vape pens or open tank systems.
- Staff, visitors and clients will be informed of the Saint Sebastian Parish policy through signs posted throughout the campus.
- The Saint Sebastian Parish will assist employees who want to quit vaping by helping them access smoking cessation programs and materials.
- Any client or visitor observed smoking or using e-cigarettes on Parish premises will be asked to discontinue in a tactful manner.
- Any employee violations of this policy will be handled through the standard disciplinary procedure.
