Major Position Responsibilities and Regular Activities

The Minister for Children (MC) develops and directs activities which help children discover the riches of the Catholic tradition, celebrate the sacraments with growing understanding, and embrace Christian discipleship.  Is committed to Family/Intergenerational Ministry (Life-long Faith Formation) and to the Parish Strategic Plan. This also involves collaboration with our cluster St. Catherine and the parishes of District Twelve (12).

Child Ministry Responsibilities:

  • K-6 Sunday Formation Coordination

Includes scheduling / recruiting & training of catechists / supervision of program

  • Family Ministry Programs {Quarterly} (shared with Adult and Youth Ministers)
  • Reconciliation and Eucharist Programs (shared with Adult Minister)
  • Coordinate Children’s Liturgy of the Word with volunteer team

Administrative and Management Responsibilities:

  • Manages Child Ministry budget
  • Assumes any other duties as may be requested by the pastor.

Physical Requirements and Environmental

  • Must have ability to travel to other locations in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
  • Must be able to operate all equipment essential to performing the duties of the position.
  • Exposure to normal hazards of working with the public.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Religious Education or a relevant area.
  • Experience developing and leading activities which foster the faith of children.
  • Compliant with or gain compliance with Safeguarding All God’s Family.
  • Must hold valid driver’s license and have proof of insurance.
  • Computer skills and general administrative skills.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with parishioners and staff in person, in print, and electronically.
  • A theology rooted in Vatican II.
  • A good pastoral presence.

Terms Of Employment
  • This position reports to the Minister for Youth and Young Adults.
  • This is non-exempt and a part-time position, 20 hours per week.
  • Compensation is an hourly and is paid semi-monthly via direct deposit.
  • This is a year-round position.
