Hello St. Sebs!
If you don’t know me, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jon Metz. I have actually been a parishioner for eight years, but my time has been limited in the parish. For the last seven years I have served as the Director of Formation at Lumen Christi Parish in Mequon. That role had me up in Mequon most weekends (and most weekdays too). I have been engaged in the St. Sebs school community and every school day for the last eight years I have dropped off my daughter Maria (entering 7th grade) and Nate (entering 4th grade). I also have taken my turn on morning parking lot duty for school drop off (not an easy task for a non-morning person).
I am thrilled to share that I am in the midst of an exciting transition. I will be serving as the new Adult Faith Formation Minister at St. Sebastian! This is a wonderful
My Adult Faith Formation Minister role will be part time. I also will be teaching full time in the Theology Department at Marquette University, where I have served as an adjunct instructor for the last two years. I couldn’t be happier about these two new opportunities.
Just to share a little bit about me… I mentioned Maria and Nate, but my wife Lisa is an active member at St. Sebastian and a theology teacher at Divine Savior Holy Angels – she is pretty great! I have been in ministry for 20 years, serving as a youth minister at St. Anthony on the Lake, Campus Minister at Cardinal Stritch University, and Director of Formation at Lumen Christi. I hold two Master’s degrees – the first in social work and the second in ministry. I earned a PhD in Leadership at Cardinal Stritch University.
I am so eager to get started at St. Sebs. To begin, I will focus on adult formation, baptism prep, RCIA, young adult ministry – and I will be helping Margaret Lee with Human Concerns. Please help me learn these ministries. Feel free to reach out to me if you are involved in any of these. I am anxious to get to know people better and to get more active in the parish. My email is email@example.com. Again, I am honored to serve at St. Sebs. Thank you for being open to me and my ministry. I hope to see you all soon.
