On Saturday, October 21st, 2017, we transformed the church hall into a Bavarian biergarten complete with food, drink and festivity to celebrate Oktoberfest, St. Sebastian style!
The night started with a German buffet featuring sausages, dill meatballs, pepper-encrusted pork tenderloin, sauerkraut and apple/cranberry compote – all supplied by McBob’s Catering. Dinner was accompanied by beer, wine, soda and water.
Auction-goers strolled around the dozens of items and bid on their cell phones. From chocolate and sports-themed baskets donated by classrooms to a Harley jacket and Road America tickets, there was something for everyone.
But the night was just beginning! Parishioners, school parents and their friends paraded down to the festive church hall, were they were met with German chocolate brownies and spice cookies. Another 10 select items were sold during the voice auction, including Packer tickets, a week in Spain, and a chef’s table at Maison.
The highlight of the evening was a direct call to raise funds to provide lighting for the church bell tower – making it a beacon on the west side of Milwaukee. Click here for more information, including how to contribute funds.
The St. Sebastian Auction is a time-honored tradition and an essential component of fundraising for many facets of the parish. Contributions allow children access to a faith-based education with high academic standards and outcomes. Funds raised also provide thought-provoking faith formation for all ages, support ministries that promote peace and social justice and help maintain one of Milwaukee’s most impressive historic places of worship.
